Europe in Transition Program Overview
Tentatively July 29- August 12, 2016
CONTINGENT UPON PROGRAM FUNDING, Murray State University is again tentatively offering a two and a half-week summer seminar on "Europe in Transition" as a professional development and educational opportunity for faculty and professional staff. Participants may attend in either of two roles:
- Seminar Presenter: present seminar session relevant to the theme and
attend all sessions and program functions- Seminar Associate: attend all seminar sessions and program functions
Presentations at past seminars have been drawn from a variety of subject areas and have examined several dimensions of the dynamics of change in Europe.
If the program does not receive funding, accepted presenters will be eligible to participate in future seminars without resubmitting their proposals.
Objectives:
- Professional and educational experience for all participants
- Direct, concrete impact on internationalization of Murray State University
- Stronger interdisciplinary teaching, research and interaction among faculty and staff
Program Provides:
- Seminar series with 8-10 two-hour sessions on the theme of Europe in Transition
- Resident director as part of the group
- Ground transportation from Munich airport to Regensburg and back
- Two nights in Regensburg’s Kaiser Hof
- Room in student housing with access to cooking facilities
- Group excursions in and around Regensburg
- One extended excursion to a European city relevant to the program
Program Costs:
- Seminar Associate $1,000 plus airfare
- Seminar Presenter airfare (Grants from the Provost's Office and IIS cover program costs)
- Retired Seminar Presenter: $500, plus airfare
Additional Costs:
- Meals ($20-35 per day)
- Independent travel excursions to other cities
