a. Prezygopophysis- a projection off of the neurapophysis that articulates
with the postzygapophysis on another vertebra; prevents torsion and increases
load-bearing abilities
b. Spinous process- extends off of the neural spine and provides extra surface area for muscle attachment c. Neural spine- a dorsal projection attached to the body of the vertebra d. Transverse process- extend from the centrum and articulate with the ribs; also provide surface for muscle attachment e. Rib- small, Y-shaped, posterolaterally directed; provide protection for the viscera |
