Six-lined Racerunner

 

 
6"-10.5" long, a slender lizard with six or seven light stripes separated by dark-greenish brown to black bands.  Throat is green or blue in males, white in females.  Belly is white to blue-white.  Tail is brown, prominently striped on sides.  This species is found throughout the southeast, Gulf coast states, and parts of the Great Plains.  It lives in dry sunny areas such as grasslands or open woodlands.  Most active in the morning, when it can be seen basking or hunting insects.
