Diamondback Water Snake

 

 
30"-63" long, heavy bodied, greenish-brown to brown snake with large dark netlike pattern of dark blotches on back, connected with alternating dark bars on the sides.  Yellowish belly.  Found throughout the southcentral U.S., along waterways.  Active in daytime and often seen basking along or above the water, but will fish at night during the summer for fish and frogs.  Quick to bite and can cause a bit of damage.
