Corn Snake

30"-48" long, the "red rat snake."  A beautiful red or orange snake, but lots or variation in color.  Dorsal spots and blotches boldly outlined in black, and first blotch on neck is divided into two branches that extend forward and meet in a "spearpoint" between the eyes.  The belly is checkered with black on whitish, and the underside of the tail is usually striped.  Mostly found in terrestrial habitats, a secretive snake that spends much of its time underground resting in burrows and hunting rodents in these habitas.
