Black Racer

 

 
34"-77" long, a large, slender, extremely fast and agile snake (aptly named).  Racers are uniformly black with a white chin, throat, and neck.  Racers are found through much of the U.S., in a variety of subspecies.  They live in a variety of habitats, from open meadow to woodland areas.  It eats large insects, frogs, lizards, snakes, rodents and birds.  Often bites repeatedly and thrashes around violently when captured.
