On Monday, we will continue lectures over section 32. For those not in class today, I strongly recommend reading the material we covered so you have at least some idea about the dense material here. Also, maybe we could have homework for section 20 turned in?

Exam 3 is planned for the week of finals - we will have to figure out the time. This week, we'll cover section 32 and work on its homework.

On Monday, we will wrap up section 20 and start discussing some homework from it. I should have the homework posted today or tomorrow.

Exam 2 turned out a little less well than the first one, but it's harder material. If you haven't gotten homework from section 17 to me yet, bring it on Monday.

Sorry I am behind on the update: I was so busy I forgot.

Exam 2, covering sections 14-17, has been rescheduled to Tuesday at 3:30 in the same classroom. (This additional class will serve as make-up for that one Friday class we missed.)

On Monday, we continue discussing homework in section 17, along with any questions you may have ahead of exam 2.

Exam 2, covering sections 14-17, is planned for Friday. Homework for section 17 and test knowledge have been posted. It would be good if I could get homework for sections 15 and 16 early in the week, so I can get it back to you before the exam.

We are planning for an additional class this week to make up for Friday. It seems that Tuesday at 3:30 is a good time.

On Monday, we continue working on section 16 homework, with sections 15 and 16 due on Wednesday. I have written some modifications to board images related to homework in section 15 and added guidelines on how to do 52 and 53 - check them out on Canvas.

Section 17 is next, after which I am planning for exam 2.

After the break, we will finish section 16 and start working on homework in sections 15 and 16. I hope to have homework from section 15 at least posted in the next two days, so you can start looking at it.

Have a nice spring break!

On Monday we will continue discussion of homework in section 14.

Exam 1 turned out well.

After exam 1, take a breather... unless you are in Real Function Theory. In that case, jump to the other page!

On Monday we continue with new material.

Home, 2/22

Due to weather-related circumstances, exam 1 has been rescheduled to Friday. Recall that we plan on staying longer than our 1-hour class to work on the exam. The format is going to be the same as for exams on Modern Algebra 1.

Homework for sections 12, 13.1 and 13.2 is due on Monday so I can return it to you before the exam. If you don't turn in all the sections, it's OK, but try to bring at least 12 and 13.1.

On Monday we will start a new section.

Home, 2/14

Exam 1, covering sections 9-13, is planned for Friday - same format as we had last semester. Recall that we will stay for an extra hour for the exam. I will have test knowledge posted during the weekend.

On Monday, we continue our discussion of homework from sections 12-13.

Home, 2/7

Homework for sections 10.2 and 11 is due on Monday.

On Monday, we will continue our discussion of new material.

Home, 1/31

Homework for section 11 has been posted. We will discuss it on Monday.

Home, 1/24

I hope to have a homework assignment for section 10 ("10.2") up by Saturday night. We will be doing some of those problems on Monday.

Home, 1/17

On Tuesday, we will continue homework discussion in sections 9.1 and 9.2. Perhaps homework can be due on Friday?

This semester, I will probably spend a little less time on homework, as I think we used a little too much time on it in the fall. You are welcome to come to ask me questions during office hours.

Welcome to the course! If you liked it last semester, you will like it this semester as well. If you did not like it last semester, then you are not taking this course.

Things will be run pretty much like last semester, with some improvements - presumably I learned something last semester on how to teach this course, too!
