Home,
12/15 (last message) The course is over and the grades are in! You can view the statistics on all the exams and the final grades on the usual page. Keep in mind that final exam statistics usually exhibit significantly lower scores, because the students who have an A based on performance during the semester are not taking it. It was a pleasure teaching this course: you were a good group of students of whom many were engaged every time. Thanks to everyone who participated in class discussion - you make my job a more fun and a easier! Have a wonderful winter break!
Home, 12/6 You can get your final grade, as well as exam 4 and joysheet 10 grades on Friday (tomorrow) at 2:30PM in room 303 of Faculty Hall (it is in the corner diametrically opposed to the corner where our classroom was. If you cannot make this time send me an email from your murraystate account (so I know it's you), or check out office hours for finals week below. The final exam is on Monday at 10:30AM in our usual classroom. It will cover all the semester's material (6 pages, about 1.5 regular exams). The best way to prepare for the final exam is to make sure you can do all the problems on the regular exams. (Solutions to those will be posted soon, and you can practice on the blank exams provided). Office hours for finals week (starting tomorrow): Friday,
12:00-4:00

If you cannot make it at that time, see me at my office on Friday until about 4PM, or send me an email from your murraystate account (so I know it's you) to find out your grade. Joysheet 10 was distributed on Thursday and is due at exam 4. You can find it among the complete joysheets if you want your copy before Tuesday. Home, 11/20 Exam 3 turned out quite well: good job, class! See scores and solutions in the usual place. You can find the updated joysheet (with that one change) among the "complete joysheets". Band people, who will not be in class on Thursday: please turn in Joysheet 8 ahead of time in order to avoid getting points taken off for lateness. Home, 10/1 After the first exam, no homework is due, so every can take a break. On Tuesday, we continue with chapter 11. Home, 9/21 Our first exam is scheduled for Thursday. It will cover chapter 8. Problems on it will be much like what we had for homework and what is on joysheets 2-4. Check out sample exam 1 - the problems there are representative of what may come on our exam. On Tuesday, we will spend the first half-hour with a new chapter (which will not be on the exam). Then you will have an opportunity to ask any questions about exam material you may have. So come prepared to ask questions! Joysheet 4 was given out on Tuesday and it is due on Tuesday. You can find it on the "scores and solutions page" if you did not yet receive it. There will not be an opportunity for you to retrieve Joysheet 4 in class before the exam, but you may come to my office on Wednesday to pick it up. Home, 9/14 Next week we will finish section 8.5 and start with chapter 11. I will give out one more joysheet from chapter 8. If you did not get one and want it ahead of Tuesday's class, you can find it in the "scores and docs" section, "Complete joysheets" link at the bottom of the page. Information on free tutoring was updated to show this semester's schedule. Note that free tutoring at the Lowry center offers tutoring for MAT 117 only one day a week. Home, 8/21 Welcome to the course! Look around to familiarize yourself with the layout of these webpages. Note that the most important links at right are highlighted. All documents (homework assignment, solutions to exams, etc.) can be found at the "scores and documents" page. These pages will get more content as information becomes available. Check back often: useful information is provided in the "home" section (which you are reading), typically updated weekly. Homework assignments will be updated when we start a new chapter. |
