Home, 5/24

The course is over and the final grades are in!  The final exam seems to have been difficult for most of the people, as few were able to use it to improve their grade. You may see final exam and final grade statistics on the usual page.

Thanks to everyone for being such a good class!  I thoroughly enjoyed teaching this course! Special thanks to people who participated in class: this is always a great deal of help when I teach.

Everyone have a great summer!

Home, 5/4

Exam 4 turned out well.  Good job, class!

The final exam is scheduled for Wednesday, 5/9, at 10:30 in our usual classroom.  Recall that the final exam replaces your weakest exam grade, if it is better.  Therefore, there is nothing to lose by taking the final.  Even if you are unsure if you will have enough on the final to bring your grade up, you should take it.  It is also a good idea to turn in homework in sections 5.4 and 5.5: it will help your score!

The final exam will have 70 points and 6 pages (so, longer than our usual exam).  Problems on it will be like problems on exams we had so far.  Thus, the best way to study for the final exam is to make sure you can do all the problems on the previous exams.

On the "scores and solutions" page, you can find solutions to all our previous exams, as well as blank exams (practice on those!).  If any are missing, let me know as soon as possible!

If you have any questions, I will be in the office during the following times next week:

Day Office hours
Final exam times
Monday 9:30-10:30
12:30-3:00
10:30-12:30
(MAT 117)
Tuesday 10:00-3:00

Good luck on your final exams!

Exam 4 is scheduled for Thursday of next week.  It will cover sections 4.10, Appendix E and 5.1-5.5.  A sample exam is available on the "scores and solutions webpage".

I will have the exam graded by Friday and will give you your overall course scores then, so you can decide whether you need to come for the final exam.

Homework over 5.1-5.3 is due on Tuesday.  The remaining homework will be due by the day of the final exam.

Exam 3 didn't turn out so great, perhaps because the problems were just a little too difficult.  To get up to extra 5 points on your exam, turn in your corrections by Tuesday of next week.

Homework for 4.7, 4.10 and Appendix E is due on Wednesday of next week.

Home, 4/13

Exam 1 turned out somewhat poorly.  Looks like all of this hasn't quite sunk in yet.  Continue studying, everyone!  Solutions are on the "scores and solutions" page.

Homework over 3.1 and 3.2 is due on Monday.  (Old homework assignments have been moved to the "old homework" page.)

Home, 2/8

Write-up for 2.6 and 2.7 is due on Monday.

Next week, we'll finish by going over sections 2.8 and 2.9.  On Thursday, we'll have exam 1, covering sections 2.1-2.9 (except 2.4).  A sample exam is posted on the "scores and solutions" page.  Problems on the exam will be like those worked out in class and given for homework.

Make sure you stop by for office hours if you need help with any of the material.

Home, 2/2

Second homework write-up is due on Tuesday.

Expect our first exam, covering chapter 2, sometime the week after next.  I'll give the exact date as the time approaches.  Sample exams may be found on the "scores and solutions" page.

Home, 1/26

Our first write-up of homework was due today.  If you haven't done so already, bring it in on Monday to minimize point loss.  Work on some problems from 2.3 for next class.

Free tutoring information has been updated.

Home, 1/19

Homework over 2.1 has been assigned so far.  On Monday, there will be an in-class worksheet concerning limits for which you will need the calculator.

The first homework to be turned in will be over 2.1 and 2.2.  Since we haven't finished 2.2, I have yet to tell you when the turn-in portion of this homework is due (most likely next Thursday or Friday - stay tuned).

Welcome to the course!  Look around to familiarize yourself with the layout of the webpage.  Note that the most important links are highlighted.

These pages will get more content as the semester progresses.  Check back often: useful  infomation is provided in the 'home' section (which you are reading), typically updated weekly.  Homework assignments will be updated when we start a new chapter.
