TITLE:
Telecommunications Systems Practicum
- CATALOG DESCRIPTION:
Application of knowledge and skills developed in core courses in an organizational
environment to solve telecommunication management problems. Emphasize
practical industry experience. Work experience supervised by faculty; written reports
and/or presentations are required.

PURPOSE:
To provide the student with "hands-on" experiences with emerging technologies in
business, industry or education under the supervision of a technology professional.
This experience will better prepare the student for working in an environment where
familiarity with technology is a critical skill.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
- To make academic experiences relevant to the world of work.
- To bridge the gap between classroom theory and the real world.
- To allow exploration of career interests.
- To increase understanding of personal and career goals.
- To provide experiences with different cultures and industry standards.

CONTENT OUTLINE:
- Acquire internship packet for development.
- Develop industry data sheet for internship experience.
- Make contact with intern supervisor as scheduled.
- Complete daily log and mail to department weekly.
- Conduct evaluation process with supervisor and complete individual
evaluation.

FIELD, CLINICAL, AND/OR LABORATORY EXPERIENCES:
Based on the internship assignment, location and scheduled projects/activities.
These experiences will be documented and evaluated as a part of the internship.

RESOURCES:
Internship Packet, provided by the Chair of the Department of Industrial and Engineering Technology
or Office of the Dean in the College of Business and Public Affairs, Murray State University.

GRADING PROCEDURES:
Pass/Fail - Refer to internship packet for details concerning specific criteria. A pass or fail will be
awarded based on the adherence to the complete reporting process in the internship packet. A report is submitted to the
Graduate Committee at the end of the project period for review.

ATTENDANCE POLICY:
The attendance policy for the internship will adhere to the company policy where the student is working.
It will be the responsibility of the student's supervisor to assess student attendance on the student's
internship evaluation form.

ACADEMIC HONESTY POLICY:
Cheating, plagiarism, submitting another person's material as one's own, or doing work for another person
which will receive academic credit are all impermissible. This includes the unauthorized copying of
assignments, drawings, or the presentation of unacknowledged material as if it were the student's own work.
Disciplinary action may result in failure of the course.
