TITLE: Information Security Management

CATALOG DESCRIPTION:
An overview of the problems, techniques, and practices associated with establishing and maintaining information security.

PURPOSE:
Build a good foundation for the student to understand the issues involved with information security and establish a foundation for further detailed security courses as well as preparation for the Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) exam.

To provide the Telecommunications student with the concepts and terminology necessary to readily understand the underlying principles behind network security in today's world.

ATTENDANCE POLICY:
Attendance will not be recorded each day, but students are expected to be regular in attendance. Late homework or lab reports without valid reason will not be accepted. No make-ups are given for pop tests. Any make-up exams will be at the discretion of the instructor, and will require that advance notice be received before a test is given, stating the reasons for the absence. Supporting documentation will be required.

ACADEMIC HONESTY POLICY:
Cheating, plagiarism, submitting another person's material as one's own, or doing work for another person who will receive academic credit are all impermissible. This includes the use of unauthorized books, notebooks, or other sources in order to secure or give help during an examination, the unauthorized copying of examinations, assignments, reports, or term papers, laboratory reports, drawings or the presentation of unacknowledged material as if it were the student's own work. Disciplinary action may result in no credit for an assignment or exam and/or failure of the course.
