Center for Teaching, Learning, and Technology

Faculty Instructional Development Minigrant Fund

Guidelines:

Proposals for developmental activities will be accepted from all permanent full-time faculty who wish to further refine their teaching expertise. All awards must be utilized to perform developmental activities focusing on teaching and learning. Specifically, developmental activities are those which enhance the applicant's ability to deliver instruction to students, such as integrating technology into the classroom, creating an active learning environment with students, improving information delivery mechanisms, and integrating international and global issues into the curriculum. Additionally, activities such as mentoring, laboratory work, and fieldwork can also be included. Preference will be given to proposals impacting 100-300 level courses of multiple sections.. It is anticipated that awards will range between $250.00 to $1,000.00. Collaborative proposals are encouraged.

Matching/assisting funds are not mandatory, but they will be taken into consideration.

It can be difficult to assess the instructional value of equipment requests. If funds are sought for equipment, applicants must be sure to identify the specific instructional benefits to be gained.

The committee encourages faculty to discuss their proposal with the appropriate collegiate representative. This should provide advice on how to proceed with the proposal, and help make sure that the representative can answer any questions that may emerge in the review process.

The following will NOT be funded:

  • faculty stipends
  • faculty travel
  • student travel
  • standard or recurring office supplies

Note:

  • Funding for faculty stipends and funding to support travel are not eligible for funding by these grants.
  • Successful applicants will be required to document their use and dissemination of grant funds prior to submitting an application for future funding.
  • All funding must be spent prior to the end of the fiscal year, unless prior arrangements have been made.
