How do I export my gradebook from Blackboard?
Instructions are available at http://campus.murraystate.edu/technical/blackboard/export_gradebook.htm.
How do I download assignments submitted in Blackboard (using the Assignment feature)?
Instructions are available at http://campus.murraystate.edu/technical/blackboard/download_assignments.htm.
I have a student who cannot get into my course! What do I need to do to get them in?
Registration will only release students to be added into Blackboard courses if they have paid their tuition/fees or made financial arrangements with the Bursar's office and if they do not have holds on their accounts. The students will be added into their Blackboard courses when this financial information has been cleared. Typically this transfer from the Registrar's office to the Blackboard system is an overnight process; however, when students pay, Registration often calls our office and asks us to put them into their respective classes immediately.
I have something in one course that I'd like to copy into all of my courses. Can I do that?
Yes! Instructors now have the ability to copy course materials into an existing course.
- Go to the Control Panel
- Select "Course Copy"
- Select "Copy Course Into An Existing Course"
- Fill out the information you want copied
- Click "Submit"
I want to start teaching with Blackboard. What do I need to do to get started?
We highly recommend you attend one of our Blackboard workshops before teaching a Blackboard course. You can sign up for a workshop by visiting our Software Training page and clicking on the "Training Workshops for Faculty/Staff" link.
Attend one of our workshops, fill out the formmailer, and we will create your course shell!
Do I still need to give CTLT (e.study) the last four digits of my student's social security number in order to get them enrolled manually?
Yes, we still need this information in order to verify the correct student gets enrolled into your course. We also need their murraystate.edu email accounts.
I want to add a guest speaker/student to my class. How do I do that?
Email e.study@murraystate.edu with:
- the firstname, lastname and current email address for your guest
- the role that the guest needs to be assigned (what privileges the guest should have)
- the Course ID
We will do the rest!
I received a current roster from the Registrar, and I see that several students have dropped my class. They are still listed in my Blackboard class, though. When will they be removed from Blackboard?
Once students have been added to your Bb course, you will be responsible for making the course unavailable to any students who drop the course. We do not recommend removing them from your course because their grades will be lost. However, we do recommend that you make them unavailable in your course. Email e.study@murraystate.edu with the information, and we will make them unavailable.
Please keep in mind that we will continue to populate your class well into the semester, so once you remove the student, email e.study@murraystate.edu and ask that your class be removed from the daily population procedure. Otherwise, the students you remove might show up again after we populate.
I would like to be able to log in and see the class as a student would see it. Is there a way I can do that?
Yes! You can send an email to e.study@murraystate.edu requesting a "dummy student" to be enrolled into your course. Just email e.study@murraystate.edu and request that we enroll a dummy student into your course. The naming convention will be s_dummy.student or any name you choose, such as s_james.bond or s_frodo.baggins.
