PowerPoint Problems In Blackboard

Windows XP Users:

There is a known compatibility issue between Windows XP Operating System, Internet Explorer and Blackboard 5.5 which results in PowerPoint files that display a blank slide. If you are having problems accessing Power Point Presentations you need to install Office Service Pack 2. The following instructions will help you download Office XP Service Pack 2. This is a free download from Microsoft's website.

*Note: You must have Office XP Service Pack 1 installed prior to installation of SP2.

How to install Office Service Pack 2:

  1. Go to Microsoft Office Update. http://office.microsoft.com/officeupdate/
  2. Click "Check for updates"
    Scan for Updates
  3. Click "Start Installation"
    Download and Install
    • Make sure you have Service Pack 2 Checked. You will probably have to download the previous updates in order to install Service Pack 2.
