Zoom information

If you have not received an email with links to Zoom meetings, email stdc2021@gmail.com.

If you have somehow managed to avoid working with Zoom for the last year and a half, first download the Zoom Client for meetings. After you have installed it on your computer, all you have to do is click on the links the organizers have sent you to join the meetings.

Once you join the meeting, you are placed in a waiting room (our university's mandatory setting), and the organizers will let you in, which may take a few moments. While you may join and leave meetings as you like, for example, to go from one special session to another, keep in mind that it is much easier for organizers to notice you joined a meeting if you do it at the beginning of a talk, when they are already letting in a number of participants from the waiting room.

Participants are by default muted, so you will need to unmute yourself to be heard in the meeting. We highly recommend that you use your own name as screen name.

Presenters: You will probably be sharing a screen for your presentation. When Zoom is running, choose "Share Screen" at bottom of your Zoom window (appears when you move with mouse in the window). Your institution likely has better internet than your home, so consider giving the talk from there for better sound and video. We suggest you turn on your camera as well. Your math friends would like to see you after this trying year.

Participants: You do not need to be visible during talks. If you would like to ask a question, don't forget to unmute yourself first, and it is good form to make yourself visible as well.

On Tuesday before the conference starts, the organizers will host welcome meetings 8:00-10:00 and 4:00-6:00, which you may use as an opportunity to try to connect, get some questions answered, or try out your presentation method.
