Classes:
REC 112 Open Water Scuba Diving I 2 credit hours
This is the introductory class designed to familiarize the student with the basics of diving. This class is generally taught twice during the regular semester (fall/spring) and once during the summer.
REC 122 Advanced Open Water Diving II 1 Credit Hour
This class is taught to students interested in furthering their diving education. The student must have completed the Open Water Scuba Diving I course or be Open Water Certified by an nationally recognized organization. Subjects covered through this course include: navigation, night diving, deep diving, travel opportunities, careers in diving, altitude diving, underwater photography and several others. This class is generally taught once during the fall semester and twice during the spring semester.
REC 132 Rescue Diver 1 Credit Hour
The Rescue Diver course is taught to those students who have been certified as Open Water and Advanced Open Water divers. In addition to the course requirements, the student must become CPR and basic first aid certified prior to certification at this level. This course is taught on an arranged basis. A minimum of 6 students is required to conduct this class. Please contact Ross Meloan to determine when the next class will be offered.
REC 300 Dive Master 3 Credit Hours
The Dive Master certification permits the diver to assist in the instructional process. The student who takes this certification course must be Open Water, Advanced Open Water, and Rescue Diver certified prior to enrolling in this course. This course is taught on an arranged basis. A minimum of 6 students is required to conduct this course. Please contact Ross Meloan to determine when this class is scheduled.
PHE 289 Officiating Soccer 1 Credit Hour
This course is taught to students interested in becoming USSF certified soccer referees. The laws of the game, penalty administration, diagonal system of control, signals, game management and several other topics are discussed during general sessions of the class. This class is generally offered during both semesters. Successful completion of this course will certify the student for the upcoming season as a USSF official.
GUI 584 Career Planning and Placement 3 Credit Hours
SENIORS ONLY (maximum 20 students)
This course covers all aspects of the career choice and placement process.
The student will be required to participate in self discovery activities,
conduct company research, resume writing, cover letter writing, interview
techniques, bargaining that first salary and suggestions on what to do with
that first paycheck. Research techniques learned through the class
will aid the student in extensive research throughout the class. This
class is generally taught during both semesters.
