The Semester in Regensburg is an exchange program sponsored by Murray State University and Universität Regensburg. Though it provides opportunities for advanced German language study, it is tailored to the BEGINNING and INTERMEDIATE student of German, who requires courses taught in English to complete a semester's schedule. Thus it offers a semester of study at a German university to students with little or no prior knowledge of the German language. Offered every fall semester, it combines German language instruction at the introductory and intermediate levels with courses in various disciplines taught in English by Murray State faculty. Students from Universität Regensburg attend Murray State University as part of the program.

Regensburg, Germany

is a beautiful, historic city of 130,000 an hour's train ride northeast of Munich. Strategically located on the Danube in Bavaria, it has been a trading, religious, political and military center at various points in its long history. Virtually untouched by World War II, its streets and architecture reveal wonders from each of its important historical epochs. Its central train station offers convenient connections to some of the most popular cities in central and western Europe.  Inexpensive small group rail tickets are available for weekend travel within Bavaria, which includes many of Germany's favorite tourist destinations. A lively university town, it also offers a variety of leisure activities to students, including sports events, musical performances of various kinds, museums and art exhibitions.

Accommodations

Program participants live in student housing around the Regensburg area. They receive €60 weekly for meals. They may eat in any of the student dining facilities on campus or use kitchen facilities in the residence halls to prepare meals.

Classes

Classes are held on the campus of the University of Regensburg. In addition to German language instruction, the Fall 2012 Schedule includes courses in German culture, humanities, art history and business. Honors courses are offered in the humanities and fine arts.
