Students/Alumni

The office of Career Services works with over 1000 regional, national, Fortune 100 and 500 employers to assist our students/alumni in finding part-time, full-time, internship/co-op, as well as post-graduate career employment. The Career Services staff is dedicated to providing MSU students and alumni with the latest job search methods and resources available. Through the links provided to the right, you will find a vast array of resources to assist you in locating either full/part-time employment, Cooperative Education or Internship opprotunities or assistance with interviews or the development of the resume or cover letter. In addition, the National Student Exchange is also housed in the Career Services office. Career Advising

Still not sure of what you would like to be "when you grow up?" If not, come to the Career Services office for career advising. Career Fairs

We host two general career fairs that attract employers with nationwide employment opportunities. The Career Services office also offers two education-related career fairs. During the spring career fair, summer jobs are also available for those seeking an experiential education experience or a job in another part of the country. Many organizations elect to visit only one of two career fairs so don't miss out on this opportunity to network with Fortune 100 and 500 companies. Cooperative Education and Internship

The academic departments strongly encourage their students to participate in either a Cooperative Education or an Internship experience during their enrollment. The Career Services office acts as a liason between the organization hiring the student, the academic department, the university and the student. Through the resources provided in the office, students are able to identify potential Coop or Internship opportunities. Graduate School Information

There is a great deal of information about graduate schools, programs, faculty, expenses and admission criteria available from a wide variety of resources. Murray State faculty may be the best place to begin your selection process. Likewise, the Internet has several sites available that will provide you with current information about the graduate schools. Jack Kent Cooke Foundation

The office of Career Services is your contact for information pertaining to the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation. The Jacke Kent Cooke Foundation awards scholarships to outstanding students beginning their first graduate or professional degrees. Each scholarship will cover a portion of educational costs, including tuition, living expenses, books and other required fees for a maximum of six years. The amount and duration vary by student depending on the total cost of attendance and other scholarship or grants received. The maximum amount available for each Scholar is $50,000.00 per year. KHEAA Work-Study

Are you a Kentucky resident? Are you working part-time or are you currently looking for a part-time job? If you are working, is the job you are performing related to your academic area, or major? If the answer to any of these questions is "yes," then you need to consider participation in the KHEAA Work-Study program. Come by the Career Services office and complete an application. An employer is reimbursed $2.00 for every hour worked up to 20 hours during the fall and spring term or 40 hours during the summer session. KHEAA Work-Study

Mock Interviews

Are you prepared for the interview phase of your job search? If not, how about signing up for a "mock interview?" The mock interview program is designed for our students and alumni to learn about the interview process and gain valuable interviewing skills. On Campus Interviews

The Career Services office hosts many employers throughtout the year. For a list of employers and when they will be coming to campus, click on the link below. As a Murray State student, there is also a process for you to schedule an interview with an on-campus recruiter. National Student Exchange

The National Student Exchange program allows MSU students to leave MSU and exchange to another NSE member college or university. The classes taken at the host college or university count towards the student's chosen degree at MSU so forestalling graduation isn't an issue. The student may pay tuition to MSU or the host school's in-state tuition rate. Kentucky residents, don't forget that your KIIES money can assist you with tuition at MSU while you attend another college or university. Some scholarships can be utilized with this NSE program. Student financial aid is also fully accepted as a financial option with this program. Come by the office and obtain an NSE brochure to learn more about the program. Student Work-Study Programs

Two major manufacturers, Briggs and Stratton and Pella, have implemented student work-study programs. These programs are similar in that they employ students to work in a manufacturing setting with a shift that begins in the afternoon and ending around midnight. There are a variety of plans beginning with 14 hours of work per week. The longest shift is 35 hours.
