YOU'VE GOT QUESTIONS, WE'VE GOT ANSWERS. Check out our new FAQ section!
1. What is the best resource for my son/daughter to see if a part-time position is available?
For students seeking employment, the Career Services Office's website is a one stop shop of job postings for both on and off campus jobs, Under the "Employment Opportunities" link on the "Students" page, each on campus University department is listed with the department's location and contact person's name and telephone number. Positions on campus are classified as one of two categories: Federal or University and students must know their status prior to contacting a department about a job. In order to find out for certain which status a student is, he or she must contact the Student Financial Aid Office at 270-809-2546. Please note: A student's status can change from semester to semester and will also be verified prior to an initial hire.
2. How many hours a week should my student work so that his/her grades aren’t affected?
We recommend students working no more than 12 hours/semester, but at the same time, we understand that many of our students have to work much more than 12 hours. If a student is experiencing difficulty in completing his or her studies and employment, we recommend the student to inform his or her professors, advisors, and other support services so that he or she can potentially overcome any hardshIps during a semester.
3. When is the best time to begin looking for an internship/Coop?

The National Student Exchange program allows MSU students to leave MSU and exchange to another NSE member college or university. The classes taken at the host college or university count towards the student's chosen degree at MSU so forestalling graduation isn't an issue. The student may pay tuition to MSU or the host school's in-state tuition rate. Kentucky residents, don't forget that your KIIES money can assist you with tuition at MSU while you attend another college or university. Some scholarships can be utilized with this NSE program. Student financial aid is also fully accepted as a financial option with this program. Come by the office and obtain an NSE brochure to learn more about the program.
