Cooperative Education/Internships
The Cooperative Education/Internship program at Murray State gives the student the opportunity to gain valued experience in their chosen field of study by actually working for an employer for a given period of time. This exposure to the work force gives the student an insight into their career choice which can only be gained outside of the class room.
Participation in these programs is strongly encouraged by the academic department and the University. These experiences allow the student to develop a better understanding of the material presented in their classes and its application in the work place. These experiences also help to build the student’s resume and aid in the gaining of permanent employment upon graduation.
The Career Services office acts as a liaison between the organization hiring the student, the academic department, the university and the student. Through the resources provided in the office, students are able to identify potential Coop or Internship opportunities. The link at the bottom of this section will give a more detailed description of the program. This link will give the requirements of the program as well as the advantages offered to the student.
