June 18, 2002

Mrs. Ford moved, seconded by Mrs. Burr, that the Board of Regents, upon the recommendation of the President of the University, approve the naming of the intramural field located on Waldrop Avenue to be the Jerry and Betsy Reid Shroat Intramural Field. Motion carried.

Reorganization of Admissions and Registrar's Office

The unit reorganization will serve Murray State University through consolidation of enrollment growth responsibilities, eliminates "non-academic dean" position, and gives greater autonomy for Registrar and Director of Admissions Services. The changes will include division of this office into two units, Admissions Services and Office of the Registrar.

Mr. Miller moved that the Board of Regents, upon the recommendation of the President of the University, approve the reorganization of the Admissions and Registrar's Office, effective July 1, 2002. The changes are as follows:

Jim Vaughan, Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management
(reporting to Vice President for Student Affairs)
(Coordinating Authority for Enrollment Management Committee; Roads Scholars; Extended Campus Recruitment)

Direct Supervision of:
-- School Relations, Admissions Services, Scholarship, Financial Aid

Office of the Registrar
Donna Harris, Registrar
(reporting to Vice President for Academic Affairs)
Direct Supervision of:
Map/Graduation Services, Registration Services, Research/NCAA/Registrar Systems

Mr. Easley emphasized the need to keep the direct line of enrollment management between the President and the Board. The line does not need to be marred with bureaucracy.

Mr. Lovett seconded and the motion carried.
