Today we took a look at our photographs on the camp web site and learned some new robotics words. Then we inventoried our sets and started building a "Spectacular Robot" model, using any 30 LEGO pieces. Next, we worked with the computer! Using what we learned about gears and pulleys earlier, we started on activities with "Amazing Mechanisms." We picked from among three different models ("Dancing Birds," "Smart Spinner," and "Drumming Monkey") to explore lots of concepts from science and mathematics. We used the computer to program these models so that they did what we wanted. Tomorrow, we will work on robotic models related to a theme of "Wild Animals."
