The first day of Robotics Camp 2010 in Murray, Kentucky, was a success.  The campers began the day by drawing a picture of what they thought a robot looks like. Then they gathered around the virtual campfire, introduced each other, compared robot pictures, and discussed the plans for the day and for the week. Then they started on camp activities. The first activity was to choose partners and then build a "Spectacular Structure," using only the 20 LEGO pieces provided. This helped them learn to work together, get familiar with the pieces, and explore how they fit together. Next, we talked about how to keep up with all of the LEGO pieces and keep an accurate inventory. Then we played with some of the pieces in the sets to get more familiar with how they work and built our first model! We also took a look at the software we will be using to program our robots. Tomorrow, we will build and program our first working robot model!
