Wow! What a week! Finally, the big day of the Robotics Derby! After perfecting the finer nuances of NXT programming, the afternoon group was presented with the following four challenges: "Go Fetch", "Whiffle Ball Drop", "Robot Climber", and "Ultimate Maze".
"Go Fetch"
required campers to use and program any two sensors to assist in dropping off
one LEGO bone in one location and then fetch another LEGO bone from another
location and then return home. "Wiffle Ball
Drop" challenged campers to use at least three sensors to carry
a load of whiffle balls through an obstacle course and dump the load in a
defined area. "Robot Climber"
tested campers to use at least two sensors to construct a robot vehicle that
will climb over an obstacle course and stop in a location on the other
side. "The Ultimate Maze"
taunted campers all five sensors to go through a maze requiring their robot to
pause in specific areas.
Camp came to a close with one last "virtual
campfire", our graduation ceremony, and final
farewell.
We
appreciated the obvious enthusiasm of the campers and their commitment to
helping us make this a successful robotics camp! We also enjoyed the many
parents and other visitors who dropped by during the day.
Robotics Camp 2009 at the Murray State University campus was a GREAT
SUCCESS! The camp staff, Mr. Jeff, Mr. Brian, and Mrs. Simone would like to thank everyone who
attended Robotics Camp 2009. Without you and your creativity, this week would
not have been such a great success.
