Robotics 2009 Camp
Day 4 -- July 9, 2009
MSU Afternoon Group
Today, the campers took their experiences with the sonic, touch, and sound sensors from yesterday and combined those with the light sensor for today's challenges. The day's first activity was the "Blue ball-Red ball Light Sensor Challenge". Campers used the preset program in the NXT program to utilize a third motor that controlled the club arm. The robot was program to sense whether it approached a red ball or blue ball. Once the light sensor recognized the color of the ball, the robot was to leave the blue ball alone and knock the red ball out of the way. For those up to the challenge, campers could take their robots "Around the World" using the light, sonic, and touch sensors at least once in the job and pausing in each box to complete a task (for those boxes containing a task). Our last challenge of the day was the "Dog House". Campers had to utilize either two of three or three of three motors (light, sonic, or touch) to drop and pick up two "dog bones" in the "dog houses" (boxes).
Teams learned a variety of skills all in preparation for the Robot Derby events
to be held on Day Five. Parents, grandparents, family, and friends - you are all welcome to join the
Derby Day events after our morning break at 10:30 so your camper can demonstrate
some of his or her projects. Bring your cameras and be ready to experience
MSU Robotics Camp 2009 at
its finest!
