Robotics 2007 Camp
Day 3 -- June 6, 2007
MSU Afternoon Group

Day Three was the turning point of Robotics Camp 2007 at Murray State. The session began with a short review of  gears and pulleys. Next, campers used the NXT brick to complete challenging tasks from the common pallet of predesigned activities found in the NXT software. "Near Miss" was the name of the challenge that provided campers the chance to use the fundamentals of programming with a sensor to receive input from the environment. This challenge required campers to use the ultrasonic sensor to control their robots. One of the most difficult challenges of the day was "Obstacle Alley." Campers had to use the ultrasonic sensor to maneuver around an obstacle and travel to a specific location. Campers also used sound sensors in an exciting challenge called "Around the Block," where they triggered each step of their program by making noise. Next, campers used the sound sensors on the "Find the Door" challenge activity, where they programmed their robots to escape from a room with a narrow opening. All campers were excited and are already planning for other challenging events for tomorrow, including the use of touch sensors!
