Robotics 2006 Camp
Day 4 - June 22, 2006
MSU Afternoon Group
Today, the campers were introduced to the engineering and
programming of touch and light sensors. The touch sensors allowed campers to
bump their robots into objects to trigger steps in their robot programs.
Bump-N-Go,
Bump-N-Steer and Follow the Line challenged campers to use both
construction and programming skills. The
Bump-N-Go design challenge gave the campers the chance to construct a
vehicle from instructions that would strike a barrier, trigger the touch
sensor, reverse direction and stop in a box.
Bump-N-Steer
required two motors and two touch sensors to maneuver through a
predetermined course. Some campers also experimented with constructing and
programming a vehicle which would maneuver through one of the more difficult
challenges, "Obstacle Hill" in preparation
for Friday's activities.
Teams learned a variety of skills all in preparation for the
Robot Derby
events to be held on Day Five. Parents, grandparents, family, and friends, you
are all welcome to join the Derby Day events after our afternoon break at 2:30 so your camper can demonstrate
some of his or her projects. Bring your cameras and be ready to experience
MSU Robotics Camp 2006 at
its finest!
