Robotics 2006 Camp
Day 4 - June 15, 2006
MSU Afternoon Group
Today, the campers continued to work on the engineering and
programming of touch sensors. Campers constructed mechanisms from instructions
including the "Merry-Go-Round of Doom" which
raised, lowered and spun its riders. They also created a
"Ramming Bumper Car" that would strike a
barrier, trigger the touch sensor, reverse direction and travel until it
triggered another touch sensor. Campers also created a steering column that,
when attached to a motorized vehicle, would steer through a complicated course
of turns and curves. The "Ghost Ride" was
developed using a system of gears and pulleys with a motor. It propelled its
riders toward a wall where a touch sensor made a ghost appear by the use of a
single motor.
Everyone learned a variety of skills all in preparation for the
Robot Derby
events to be held on Day Five. Parents, grandparents, family, and friends, you
are all welcome to join the Derby Day events after our afternoon break at 2:30 so your camper can demonstrate
some of his projects. Bring your cameras and be ready to experience
MSU Robotics Camp 2006 at
its finest!
