Day 3 was the turning point of Robotics Camp 2004 at Murray State. This was our first day of programming the RCX brick to complete challenging tasks using Pilot 1 of the RoboLab software. "Walk the Dog" or "Camina el Perro" was the name of the challenge that provided campers the chance to use the fundamentals of programming. Next, the campers were required to add a step to their program which allowed their vehicle to back from one box into another. Then came a multiple step program using Pilot 3 which made use of changing the direction and the speed of the motors. The words "what" and "until" took on new meaning.  "What" was the motor turning one direction or the other, and "until" was the length of time until the RCX told the "what" (the motor) to stop. Campers also began programming multi-step programs and designing their vehicles to make turns, "Left Turn" "Una Vuelta a la izquierda" challenge. Today's campers will never look at left turns the same ever again. Campers also go to experiment with the gear reduction box to slow down their motors in the "Tortoise and Hare Race"  or "La Tortuga y el Conejo." All campers were excited and are already planning for other challenging events for tomorrow, including the use of touch sensors!
