Robotics 2004 Camp
Day 1, June 28, 2004
Murray State Morning Group

The first day of Robotics Camp 2004 in Murray, Kentucky, was a success.  The campers began the day by gathering around the virtual campfire and discussing the plans for the day and for the week.  The first activity for the morning was "The Tower" or "Una Torre." Campers were given a challenge to design a challenge tower using as many of the pieces in their set to hold a golf ball. Our tallest tower this morning was 24 inches. The second activity was "Coast for the Most" or "Costear para lo Máximo," which required camper teams to focus on using good building techniques to create vehicles that would coast as far as possible after going down a long ramp. They also worked on reducing friction as much as possible. This early construction activity will be helpful when we build our robotic vehicles later in the camp. Both campers and staff are looking forward to tomorrow! We will be using gears, pulleys, and solar panels to create some very interesting vehicles!
