Robotics 2004
Day 4, June 17, 2004
MSU Advanced Robotics Camp

Bump-N-Go and "Seeing is Believing" were the tasks of the day for the Advanced Robotics campers. Tasks required campers to use combinations of programming and the sensors with their RCX units. Teams were introduced to the touch sensors. The touch sensors allowed campers to bump their robots into objects to trigger steps in their programs.  Our second task, "Seeing is Believing", allowed the campers to use light sensors to measure the intensity of light to drive their robots. Teams designed a program that would "see" the difference between light and dark colors on a poster board which triggered different parts of their program. Our last challenge of the day was named "Sniffer" by one of the campers. Teams used two light sensors follow a "S" shaped curve allowing their robot to travel along a wavy line. Incorporating their designs from yesterday, campers slightly modified their vehicles to complete the many challenges for today. Campers learned more about the pieces in the Team Challenge set, all in preparation for the Advanced Robotics Derby events held tomorrow.

Teams learned a variety of skills all in preparation for the Robot Derby events to be held on Day Five. Parents, grandparents, family, and friends, you are all welcome to join the Derby Day events after our break at 10:30 so your camper can demonstrate some of his or her robotic projects.
