Day 2 is the turning point of the Advanced Robotics Camp 2003 in Hanson; it
is our first day of programming the RCX brick to complete challenging tasks.
"Back and Forth" is the name of the challenge that provides campers
the chance to use the fundamentals of programming. They must build and program a
one-motor vehicle that will start in one place on the floor, travel to another
designated place, and then return and stop at a third location between the first
two places. After completing "Back and Forth," they next worked on a
three-step program called "Zero Turning Radius." Here, they had to
build and program a two-motor vehicle to travel down the hall, spin 180 degrees
(zero turning radius) and return to their starting position. This became the
challenge of the day. Campers found that tracks gave them the most control. The
tracks are a new addition to the advanced camp. Tomorrow, they will be ready for
even more challenging multi-step programming tasks.
