Robotics 2002 Camp
Day 2, June 4, 2002
Madisonville Afternoon Group

Today we used what we learned yesterday about construction and friction in our projects. After doing some activities to learn more about gears and pulleys, we put everything together with a motorized vehicle. We used solar panels to power the cars. (Thank goodness for sunny weather!) The vehicles we built used the solar panels on board and off board.  Solar panels only generate a small amount of power for our motors and they require no programming.  Knowing this, campers used gear and pulley arrangements to make their vehicles go fast!  Campers also wrote out detailed plans and notes to assist them in their day to day  model building.

Next, we jumped into using the RCX!  Campers began with single motor programming to complete simple task before moving onto multi-step programming.  Making our vehicles move on their own and completing challenging task can lift your feet off the ground.
