Dr. Ramesh Gupta

Ramesh C. Gupta received his DVM in 1971 and MVSc in 1973 from G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, and PhD in 1977 from Punjab Agriculture University, India.  He served as Assistant Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology at Punjab Agriculture University from 1977-1981.  He came to the United States and received his post-doctoral training at Michigan State University (1981-1983) and Vanderbilt University (1983-1987) for the grants funded by National Aeronautics and Space Administration, National Institutes of Health, and US Department of Defense.  Dr. Gupta was certified by the American Board of Toxicology in 1985, and recertified in 1990, 1995, 2000, and 2005.  He joined the Breathitt Veterinary Center of Murray State University in 1987 as Assistant Professor of Toxicology and currently serves as Professor and Head of Toxicology.  Dr. Gupta is a member of several national and international professional societies (ISSX, AAVCT, SOT, AAVLD, IBRO, ASPET, and Experimental Biology).  Presently, he is the President of AAVCT for a two-year term (2006-2008).  He serves on review panel of NIH, NIOSH, CDC, National Academy of Science, and Faculty Senate at MSU.  In the last five years, he has trained more than a dozen graduate students.  He has more than 250 publications to his credit.  Recently, he edited two major books: (1) Toxicology of Organophosphate & Carbamate Compounds, and (2) Veterinary Toxicology: Basic & Clinical Principles, for Academic Press/Elsevier.  Recently, Dr. Gupta has made presentations/delivered lectures, and chaired the scientific sessions in international meetings held in Finland, France, Germany, Japan, South Korea, Croatia, and in many other countries.  He has received grants from KSTC, and Merz Pharmaceuticals, Germany.  Dr. Gupta’s fields of research include Brain Research, Arthritis, and Neurotoxicity.
