The Murray State University Pre-Health Professions Club is an organization designed to prepare MSU students to be successful in their educational goals.  Guest speakers at meetings include representatives from health professional schools, local health professionals, and others.  As students attend the meetings, they will be provided with invaluable information about how to get accepted to various health professional schools, get opportunities to meet those on the admissions committees, and get to meet other students with the same career goals.

The club also organizes and participates in community  volunteer service and one fund raiser each semester.

Alternative Career Choices Volunteer Opportunities

Okay, lets look at a few scenarios:

1)  You are a student who wants to go into the medical field, but you are not sure exactly what area.

2)  You are an upperclassman who is Pre-Medicine, for example, but you just don't have the right GPA or you are considering something else.

3)  You are a graduating Senior who has applied, but did not get accepted to a school of your chosen profession.

Do any of these scenarios fit you?  If so, it should be reassuring to know that your Pre-Health education offers several alternatives.  If you have successfully completed one academic year of Physics, General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biology, English, and Math, then you meet most of the requirements for the following programs:  M.D. or D.O. Medicine, Dentistry, Optometry, Podiatry, Chiropractic, Physical Therapy, Pharmacy, Physician Assistant, Medical/Pharmaceutical research, Veterinary Medicine, Occupational Therapy, Nursing, Wildlife biology, and Chemistry/Biology/Math education.

So, browse through the links on this site to learn what alternatives or "back up" plans are right for you.
