Minutes of the September 2, 2008 Meeting

The meeting was called to order by President, Randall Winchester at 1900 hours. In attendance were:

Self-introduction of members took place with the questions of the day being “What’s the best DX you’ve worked? What band and mode was used?”  

Minutes – Dale Barrett made a motion to accept the August minutes as written, Bob Aldrich seconded and there were no objections. Motion passed.  

Treasurer’s Report – No change from last month, current balance $766.77.  

Systems Report – No change from last month.  

VE report – No  exam sessions are scheduled if anyone is ready to take the exam just contact Bill Call  to schedule an exam.  

Net Report – 5 sessions, 0 traffic, 87 minutes, 32 stations, 46.4 operator hours.  

QSL Manager’s Report – No report.  

Faculty Advisor Report – No report, John Hart was not in attendance.  

Ham Bits – Radio built from the junk box, including a piece of dirty zinc.  

Old Business – Field Day we had 561 points, Dale Barrett emailed the report to the ARRL, watch the December QST for the results. Carolyn Winchester won the prize for most overall contacts at 47. Bill Call won the prize for the most GOTA Station contacts at 38.  

New Business – We have been invited to take part in “Disaster Blaster” again this year. “Disaster Blaster” will take place September 20th in Lowe’s parking lot. Bill Call will have the county communications trailer there. Matt said he may be able to attend and Bob Aldrich, Candy Aldrich, Denis Barton, Debbie Barton, Dale Barrett, and Valerie Barrett will be in attendance. Powell Henderson will bring the handouts but may not be able to man the information booth as he will be working another booth.

Program – “Bluetooth and Amateur Radio” Matt Freeman presented a program on Bluetooth technology in relation to Amateur Radio. It was taken from U-Tube and was about constructing a Bluetooth audio radio interface using the following items:

 1). The JABRA A-210 Bluetooth wireless interface for regular cell phones (this plugs into the headset jack)

2.)  VXI Blue Parrot Headset (this is a good choice for headsets).

There being no further business, Randall adjourned the meeting at 19:55 hours and thanked everyone for coming.
