Meeting Minutes, November 2, 2010

 

The meeting was called to order at 19:05 by Vice President, Chuck Williams.

The question of the day was: “What’s new in Ham Radio for you this fall?”

 

Minutes – Bill Call motioned to accept the minutes as emailed, Bill Husfield seconded. Motion passed.

 

Treasurer’s Report – Bill Call reported a VE exam fee expense of $14 and a balance of $1852.41.

 

Systems Report – Bill Call reported that there have been no changes to any systems.

 

Staff Advisor Report – None.

 

VE Report – One VE session which resulted in one new technician class license being issued to James Sanford, and the one unsuccessful upgrade examinee.

 

QSL Managers Report –None.

 

Net Report for October – 4 sessions, 0 traffic, 61 stations, 126 minutes, 128.1 operator hours. Bill Call also thanked everyone who participated in the storm net. The weather service out of Paducah had an amateur radio operator monitoring our 94 repeater during the storm net.

 

Ham Bits – “What’s the most unusual antenna design/location/mount you’ve ever seen?” Several strange/interesting antennas/locations were discussed.

           

Old Business – Christmas Party has been scheduled for 6:00 p.m., Saturday, December 11th at the Willow Pond in Aurora. We will have a Chinese Auction and the gift has a $10 limit or you can provide up to 30 pounds of used gear. Please mark your gift as Ham or Non-Ham.

 

New Business – Ham of the Year will be voted on at our December meeting. Please be thinking of who you want to nominate. Program – Mary Husfield gave a presentation on PSK 31, Phase Shift Keying. The following frequencies are places to look for PSK activity:

18.109 – 17M              21.070 – 15M              28.120 – 10M              50.000 – 6M                144.00 – 2M
