Introduction of members followed with everyone stating the number of antennas they use regularly.
Program - Dale Barrett, WB7D presented a program on WinLink 2000.
Minutes - The minutes for September 2007 needed one correction, Robin Jones call was listed incorrectly as KF4GLD. Bill Call motioned to accept the minutes as corrected, Al Grant seconded, motion passed unanimously.
Treasurer’s Report – Bill Call was reported no changes from the last meeting, therefore the current balance is $723.83. He also reported selling a rack cabinet for $65.00 yesterday, that had been donated to the club. That income will be included in the October report next month.
Systems Report – ‘94’ Repeater still has that flaky noise. Still hopes to make those improvements at Farmington soon. Hamlin and APRS systems are working fine. Bill Call reported the new antenna towers are progressing nicely, pads have been poured in front and back of the building for the two towers. The feedline for the front tower will decrease from approximately 700 feet to about 120 feet to the tower and the feedline for the rear tower will be about 170 feet to the base of the tower. Hopefully the tower will be moved by end of month providing someone can be found to move them at a reasonable rate, so far only one bidder and the cost was prohibitive. Bill will strip everything out of the big outdoor cabinet within the next few days; the cabinet will become the property of the University. The small cabinet will go with the tower at rear of the building.
Staff Advisor Report – John Hart said everything was covered in Bill’s System Report.
Net Report – Bill Call read the report submitted by Matt Freeman, WX4MET with 4 sessions, 47 stations, zero traffic, 94 minutes and with 73.63 operator hours.
VE Report – Currently there are no license exam sessions scheduled. If anyone would like to schedule an exam please call Bill Call.
QSL Manager’s Report – One card sent to W4GZX, Cleveland Amateur Radio Club; Cleveland, TN as requested.
Dale asked for a motion to accept all reports as presented. Motion was made and seconded. Motion passed unanimously.
Other – “Disaster Blaster” was a success and the club received a thank you from Red Cross for our participation in the event.
Dale & Valerie Barrett, WB7D & KG4OCJ reported on the TenTec Hamfest, about 1500 people were in attendance and they had a great time.
Calendar items: GeorgeFest or Marshall County Junk Fest, October 6th, Hwy 68
at “Forgotten Past” in Benton, 8 am to 11 am.
Wal-Mart, Benton is having an “Emergency Services Day” October 6th. Handouts should be made available if anyone is able to attend.
Clarksville, TN Hamfest, October 20th.
New Business – Powell Henderson, KI4SII suggested donating the extra literature we have from “Disaster Blaster” to the Boy Scouts and/or the Public Library. Whipple mentioned the Wal-Mart “Emergency Services Day” and said we should take the literature there and then any left over could be donated to the above organizations. Everyone thought that sounded like a good idea.
Bob & Candy Aldrich are leaving for the cold Upper Peninsula of Michigan next week and wanted to thank everyone for the nice welcome they received here this summer and looking forward to seeing everyone again in the Spring.
There being no further business. Al Grant made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Bob Aldrich, motion passed unanimously. Meeting adjourned at 1950 hours.
Respectfully submitted,
Debbie Barton, W8IBT, Secretary
