Minutes of the December 4, 2007 Meeting
The meeting was called to order by President, Randall Winchester at 1920 hours. In attendance were:

Self-introduction of members took place and “Who was your elmer?” was the question of the day.
Minutes – Bill Call made a motion to accept the November minutes with the following corrections: 1). Powell Henderson stated that Instance should have been Incidence in the information on NVIS, page 2 and 2). Bill Call had contacted me to correct WD8BYW (Charles) last name to Thompson. Motion passed unanimously.
Treasurer’s Report – Bill Call reported depositing $150.00 for dues and sale of rack cabinet with a balance of $873.83.
Systems Report – Bill Call reported that the old GE Commercial Radio that is on the 94 repeater was worked on and that the tone squelch read was on the wrong frequency and that he has ordered a tone element for about $20 - $25. When the antenna is located for that radio we will then have the Kenwood radio available for additional frequencies. Everything is fine except for occasional noise.
Staff Advisor Report – Nothing new on the progress of the tower relocation.
Net Report –Matt Freeman reported 4 sessions, 43 stations, 84 minutes and 60.2 operator hours.
Website Report – Matt reported correcting the Ham of the Year Award pages and will be adding the MSUARC Minutes soon. He will also be updating the Christmas Party page.
VE Report – Currently there are two people requesting exam sessions. Examiners are available for December 15th. Exam Session tentatively scheduled for December 15th at 9:00 a.m. in our regular meeting room of the IT Building.
QSL Manager’s Report – John Hart had five cards were ready for mailing for contacts made using PSK31. They were for contacts in Greece, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain and an AO5 contact that I don’t know the location of.
Old Business – Christmas Party, Holmes Family Restaurant will be on Friday, December 7th. Chinese Auction with a $10.0000 limit if buying a new gift and a 30# limit if recycling your prized possessions.
Ham of the Year – Dale Barrett, Debbie Barton and Matt Freeman were asked to leave the room while votes were cast and tabulated. Ham of the Year will be announced at the Christmas Party on Friday evening.
Ham Bits – Name that Noise. Various noises (nine in all) were played and we had to determine which mode it was. Denis Barton had seven correct. It was enjoyed by all.
Program – Dale Barrett presented “The Year In Review” which was a slide type show with music showing different events the club was involved in this year.
New Business – Bill Call made a motion to have the January meeting moved to the 8th. Dale Barrett seconded. All were in favor and motion passed unanimously.
Charles Thompson applied to the club for Membership. He is interested in DX, Traffic Nets, Rag-Chewing and Emergency Operations. Charles has been a licensed Amateur Radio Operator for many, many years. A motion to accept Charles’ application and all were in favor. Welcome to the Club, Charles.
Robin announced the Mayfield Club Christmas Party will be at 5:00 p.m. at the Snappy Tomato with dinner only, no gift exchange. Everyone is welcome!
There being no further business. Dale Barrett made a motion to adjourn, all in favor and motion passed unanimously. Meeting adjourned at 2030 hours.
