The candidate was presented with the following questions. The responses are printed as received and have not been edited by Staff Congress.

1. What do you perceive as the responsibilities of the Staff Regent?
This position will serve as the representative for the staff and work in conjunction with other board members to ensure the mission, goals and objectives of Murray State are being carried out and that the university is progressing in a positive direction.

2. Do you understand the governance of the Board of Regents and how you would serve in that capacity? Explain.
The responsibilities of the Staff Regent include fiduciary responsibility for the assets and programs of the university, establishment of goals and policies to guide the university, oversight of the functioning of the university and appointing a president for oversight and management of the university.

3. Serving as Staff Regent requires time commitments during the normal work hours (8 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.), nights and weekends. Are you aware of the time commitment involved, and will you be able to devote this time and still perform your regular work duties?
Yes

4. Describe the most important work or University service experiences which will assist you in being an effective Staff Regent.
In my current position as coordinator for Town & Gown, I interact and work with the university community on a regular basis as well as the Murray community. I currently serve on two volunteer boards so I understand the mechanics and responsibilities of a working board. Prior to this position, I worked closely with MSU's director of Government Relations which allowed me to gain knowledge of legislative affairs within the Commonwealth of Kentucky. I have experience at all levels as a staff member having started my career at Murray State as an administrative assistant with a grant program, then moving into the academic side and finally as a coordinator. I received my associate's degree from MSU and finished my bachelor's degree in 2015.

5. Have you served in campus governance before and if so, how long and in what capacity? (example Staff Congress, Faculty/Staff Insurance and Benefits Committee, etc.)
No

6. If elected the 2018-21 regent, what will be your top goals to benefit MSU staff?
Ensuring that the staff is fairly represented on the board when it comes to decisions concerning budget, job security and benefits (pension). I will be an effective communicator with the staff and make sure that information is delivered in a clear and concise manner.
