Have you served on Staff Congress before? No
If so, how long did you serve?

The candidate was presented with the following questions. The responses are printed as received and have not been edited by Staff Congress.

1. Why would you like to serve on Staff Congress?
Murray State holds a special place in my heart as my Alma Mater and now my place of employment. I consider it a great honor to be able to continue to be a part of this university continuing to provide an education that surpasses that of other regional universities. As a new staff member I want to become even more involved in how this goal is achieved through the staff congress and the recommendations submitted to the staff regent. Through the budget reviews that I have seen take place in the year and a half I have been employed, I have seen first hand how much one person speaking their mind can affect the direction the university takes. I want to personally be a part of the discussion and represent the views of the staff members that I come in contact with everyday at the CFSB Center and Lovett Auditorium. Having just been a student very recently I can speak to how the actions of the staff and the decisions made by the staff congress affect the students. This provides valuable insights on how we can better serve our customer, which are the students that attend this university.

2. Please list work experience and community involvement.
Work Experience - Worked as a student manager for Lovett Auditorium from 2009 on. - Have worked as the Manager of Accounting activities for the CFSB Center and Lovett Auditorium for the past year and half. - Through the CFSB Center and Lovett I have been an integral part of the production for All Campus Sing, Alpha Phi Alpha Step Show, Miss MSU, Mr. MSU, and many other events that are hosted by student groups and university departments alike. Community Involvement - For the past 7 years I have volunteered a The Journey Church. I started out doing setup and tear down for the church since we are a portable church. From there I have been involved in other events such as the Trail of Treats or the Ice Cream Festival in which the Journey has served this area. - I am participating in the Kentucky State Police Citizen's Police Academy currently to further understand the role of the Kentucky State Police in this area's Law Enforcement. Through this program I am also making more contacts to learn of ways I can further help my university.

Wesley is a candidate in the Executive/Managerial/Professional category.
