Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society
General Meeting Minutes
December 7, 2000


PRESIDENT:
 President Wyatt Alverson announced that the first meeting of the
Spring semester will be on January 25, 2001.  Wyatt added that all meetings
next semester would be on the last Thursday of every month.

Wyatt extended congratulations to GBP members Jennifer Hibbs and Ashley
Hailston for being selected as Miss MSU contestants.  Furthermore, Wyatt
congratulated GBP member Misty Sanders for being chosen as the female
Outstanding Senior for the Fall 2000 semester.

Kent Bohanon and Doug Cecil were named as winners of the GBP Presidential
Award of Merit.  The outgoing president selects the recipients of this award
at the end of his or her term.


VICE PRESIDENT:
 Vice President Sharaf Alkibisi reminded all members to turn
in any points they may have earned doing tutoring throughout the semester or
for participating in any activities with international students.


TREASURER:
 Treasurer Liz Fatheree reported that the Mr. Gatti's Rebate Night
held on November 28th was a success.  Liz thanked all members for their
participation.  She stated that GBP would be having another Rebate Night again
next semester.

Liz asked that any members with ideas for fund-raisers to please contact her.


RECORDING SECRETARY:
Recording Secretary Doug Cecil announced that the last
day to turn in points for the Fall 2000 semester would be December 15th at
4PM.  Please turn in points either to Doug or in Lori's office.  Doug also
announced that the webpage has been updated and will updated as often as
possible.  Doug thanked members for being patient about finding out their
point totals.


CORRESPONDING SECRETARY:
Corresponding Secretary Cheri Riedel reported on
"Mom's Day Out."  Eleven children participated and a good time was had by the
children and the GBP members who helped out.  Cheri thanked all members who
helped in any way.

Cheri announced that she plans for GBP members to make homemade valentines and
distribute them at Westview Nursing Home in early February, shortly after the
first meeting of the semester.

Cheri also informed members that the George Weaks Community Center burned down
earlier in the week.  She asked that members make donations of money or goods
and she stated she had an address to where donations could be sent for those
interested


HISTORIAN:
 Historian Alyson Holbrook announced that the scrapbook for June
1999 to June 2000 would be ready in January.  Alyson asked that members please
keep turning in any articles, etc. on GBP members for the scrapbook.


PUBLIC RELATIONS CHAIR:
  Public Relations Chair Kent Bohanon reported on a
successful, fun-filled trip to Opry Mills Mall in Nashville last month.  Kent
also noted the good turnout for the social event coupled with the Mr. Gatti's
Rebate Night.  He thanked all members for their involvement in these events.

New President Casey Johnson asked all officers to please stay after the
meeting for a few moments to talk with him.
