Gamma Beta Phi Minutes October 31, 2002 SGA Representative Laura Hurt introduced herself as the new SGA representative. If any of you have concerns about something on campus, you can reach her by phone at 761-1001 or by email at laura.hurt@murraystate.edu President Michelle Hastings apologized for the recent email problems. Please send an email to michelle.hastings@murraystate.edu to let her know if you are receiving the mass emails or not. She informed students that the deadline for applications to be considered for Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges was quickly approaching. Students graduating in December 2002 or May/August 2003 should have their applications turned in by November 8. Students applying should have leadership and campus involvement background. You can get an application in the Student Affairs office or online at www.murraystate.edu/secsv/director.htm. Nationals has requested that in addition to our information booth that we hold an information session. This will be in place of the 9 o’clock meeting on November 21, to be held in the Curris Center Theater. Refreshments will be served. Your attendance would be appreciated. Invitations have been sent and induction has been rescheduled for December 4, at 8 pm. Jennifer Payne was appointed Vice-President. The next meeting is on November 21, AT 5 pm ONLY. Nominations will be taken for the offices of President, Social Chair, Treasurer and Historian. Scrapbook Volunteers are badly needed. The scrapbook needs to be ready in time for Nationals, which is scheduled for Friday January 25 – Saturday January 26 at the Sheraton Music City Hotel in Nashville. Remember, you only are responsible for food. Room and transportation will be provided by GBP. Corresponding Secretary Nori Taylor talked about a service/social event that she and Brian had planned for November 9. From 11 am – 1 pm, Gamma Beta Phiers will volunteer at the Calloway County Humane Society. Since it is a joint event, 6 points are to be awarded to those who come. An additional 3 points can be earned by bringing a bag of dog or cat food. Also, you can receive a point for every 3 canned goods you drop off at Lori’s office in the bottom floor of Spark’s Hall. The cans will be donated to the NeedLine. Treasurer Larissa Cook has planned a bake sale for November 13, 8am -1pm. You can receive one point for every 30 minutes worked, and a point for every dozen baked goods you bring. Social Chair Brian reminded everyone about the Humane Society and the info session on November 21. He also mentioned that there will be an information booth on Friday November 15 from 11am – 2 pm. Workers are needed (one point/30 minutes). Recording Secretary Shelly Harris reminded everyone that the semester is coming to a close and that all points should be turned in.
