Gamma Beta Phi General Meeting

Minutes: September 23, 1999

Prepared by: Casey Johnson

President: Kevin Clouse was unavailable for the meetings due to personal reasons

Vice President: Wyatt Alverson spoke for himself and on behalf of Kevin Clouse. The induction ceremony for new members is Tuesday, October 5. The ceremony begins at 8:00 p.m. but we need helpers there at 7:00 to set up. Pictures will follow the meeting at 9:20. Homecoming is October 16, and we need volunteers to work at tent city. Jennifer Hibbs was voted as our representative for homecoming queen. Dr. Murphy is no longer our sponsor, so we will explore the possibility of asking Dr. Robertson, Vice President of Student Affairs, to replace her. State Convention is November 6 and 7. Everyone planning to attend needs to see Lori or Wyatt immediately. There will be an education committee meeting on October 6th at 6:00 p.m. on the 3rd floor of the Curris Center.

Corresponding Secretary: Casey Johnson announced a Service Committee meeting to be held Wednesday, October 29th on the 3rd floor of the Curris Center. We are still accepting canned animal food for the animal shelter, and we are also accepting non-perishables for Needline. More projects will be discussed at the Service Committee meeting.

Recording Secretary: no information available

Treasurer: Jennifer Hibbs announced that Gamma Beta Phi shirts are $10.00. Members earn 2 points for buying the shirt, and you earn 1 point each time you wear it. There will be a max of 8 points. The Gamma Beta Phi pins are here, and will be available to new members first. She needs help at the induction, so helpers need to be there by 7:00 p.m. to take money, sell shirts, etc. She needs help with Homecoming at tent city on October 16. We will be giving away Blue Bunny Ice Cream. Also, some lucky sap has the chance to dress as Blue Bunny himself. Members should pay their $10.00 dues as soon as possible. Also, an A-lottery may be soon occurring. Everyone will put their A'’ they got on a paper, etc. sometime during the previous week in a hat. A winner will be drawn to receive a prize.

Public Relations Officer: Kristy Kilcoyne will have a Social Committee meeting after both meetings. She needs ideas for social events. She apologized for the absence of a newsletter, and she will have one ready for the next meeting.

Historian: Holly Hudson is working “Diligently” on the scrapbook. Any help with the scrapbook would be appreciated.
