Gamma Beta Phi Minutes

August 29, 2002

President

Michelle Hastings introduced herself as the new President and explained that Wyatt Alverson has removed himself from the office because of personal reasons.  She requested that everyone pay their dues as soon as possible.  Dues have increased from $15 to $20.  This was passed at Nationals last year.  Five dollars is paid to Nationals for each member, and the remaining $15 stays within the chapter. 

A new $100 scholarship, to be given away once in the fall and once in the spring, is going to be offered.   To be eligible, you must have your points up to date and have paid your dues.   

Regionals are going to be September 21^st at Middle Tennessee State University.  Contact Lori or Michelle if you are interested.  Nationals are going to be in the end of January and are going to be held in Nashville.  Gamma Beta Phi will cover the rooms, all you have to provide is food money.  Since Nashville is so close to us, we really want to try to have a good representation.  The Induction Ceremony will be held on October 17 at 7:00 pm in the Curris Center Large Ballroom.  September 26 is the next meeting.

The Western Kentucky University Chapter is interested in getting together with us to do something.  If you have any ideas, let an officer know.

Corresponding Secretary

Nori Taylor talked about some service ideas such as a trip to the Humane Society, Thanksgiving baskets, Christmas caroling at a long-term care facility, and sponsoring a family for Christmas.  If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, let her know.

Treasurer

Larissa Cook reminded everyone about paying dues and said that we would have the usual fundraisers this semester, but is looking for new ideas. 

Recording Secretary

Shelly Harris wanted everyone to know that because of the new scholarship points would be looked at more closely and to try to get the point requirement fulfilled as soon as possible.

Public Relations

Brian Coe informed everyone that they could email him for a copy of the Gamma Beta Phliers if they needed one, or could visit the website for the same information.
