Gamma Beta Phi Minutes

March 30, 2000

President: Wyatt Alverson announced that Dr. Don Robertson has accepted the position as our new co-advisor. Dr. Robertson is the vice president of the student affairs. He helped us get the Academic Reception to honor outstanding students, which was a success. Alverson thanked all the students who participated in that reception. This reception would be a yearly tradition. Alverson reminded everyone that the next meeting would be on April 13 at 9:00 PM only as the date on the MSU Calendar has this date wrong. On the next meeting, we will be voting on the positions of Vice-President, Corresponding Secretary, and Treasurer. There were nominations for those who were interested. If anyone still want to run, then feel free to email him (alverson@apex.net), Lori (lori.dial@murraystate.edu), or the main email (gbphi@murraystate.edu). The members voted on the By-Laws By a vote of 50-9, the motion to change them passed.  These will go into effect at the beginning of the Fall 2000 semester. 

Vice President: Casey Johnson is still working on the hospital trip. If there are enough people, we will go to the hospital and he said that people can bring in stuff for that trip. The items are listed on the web page. Check it out.

Corresponding Secretary: Sharaf Alkibsi is going to the Child Development Center with the service committee. If you are interested be a committee member and earn pointes. He encouraged every one to sign up and visit the kids. The online community service was great. He thanked every one who participated and hope to talk to you if you have tried it in order to develop it better. There were many points earned with that project. If you have not done so, please try it out and earn points.

Treasurer: Jennifer Hibbs reminded that the yearly dues are $15.00 and shirts are $15.00. She is looking into a car wash and a ticket sale for Wal-Mart gift certificates. The Pepsi one taste test will pull through; the chairperson for this project was not there, so she will contact us later.

Recording Secretary: Doug Cecil has passed the point’s sheet. For more details of how to get points check out with the other officers. Anyone has questions about points, should ask him.

Public Relations: Kent Bohanon thanked those who attended the bowling alley last month. There is a movie night and we will pay for the first 10 members to show up at Cherri theatres. The movie night will be on Tuesday, April 4. The movie starts at 7:10pm.

Historian: Alyson Holbrook asked the member for any pictures of GCP events from last Auguest to contact her. She would borrow them and have copies. If you find any article about a GBP member, she would like to put it on the scrapbook.
