March 28, 2002
At the beginning of the 5:00 meeting, GBP member Jennifer Payne passed out cards
and announced she was running for Treasurer. It was also announced that GBP
member Jessica Reed is running for SGA treasurer. Jace Rabe spoke prior to the
9:00 meeting. He is running for SGA President and told all members he would
appreciate their votes.
President:
Wyatt reminded members that national convention would be in San Antonio, TX at
the end of April. He asked for nominations for the offices of Vice President,
Corresponding Secretary, Treasurer, and the new position of Webmaster.
Nominations for Vice President were accepted by Kim Ark at the 5:00 meeting and
Connor Cantrell at the 9:00 meeting. Bridgette Blair accepted a nominations for
Corresponding Secretary at the 5:00 meeting. Larissa Cook accepted a nomination
to run again for Treasurer at the 5:00 meeting. Derek Hunter accepted a
nomination for Webmaster at the 5:00 meeting. Wyatt reminded everyone that the
floor would remain open for nominations up to the elections at the meeting on
May 2nd. Members can nominate themselves, and they can contact Wyatt through
e-mail or phone to do this if they wish. Wyatt explained there will only be one
meeting on May 2nd at 9:00. He announced that there would be no April meeting.
Vice-President:
Anne Harper invited members to see “Fiddler on the Roof” April 12th. Those
interested should meet at 4:30 at the Curris Center parking lot. The plan is to
go eat and then attend the play, which costs $5. The next day, April 13th is the
St. Louis trip, which is free except for food. She instructed those attending to
meet at Sparks Hall parking lot at 8 a.m. She is having a committee meeting
April 1st at 5 p.m. in the Jungle Lounge.
Corresponding
Secretary:
Audrey Hamilton thanked those that helped out and brought items for Long-term
care Bingo. She also thanked those who helped with the Easter party at the Child
Development Center. She said that, unfortunately, due to the fullness of GBP’s
schedule, the basketball mini-camp for the Boys’ and Girls’ Club in Paducah is
cancelled. She announced a committee meeting scheduled for Thursday, April 4th
at 5 p.m. in the Jungle Lounge.
Treasurer:
Larissa Cook announced the car wash planned for Saturday, April 20th from
10 a.m. to 3 p.m. She said she is going to try to plan another bake sale and
possibly a rebate night at Boulder’s.
Historian:
Amber Wray thanked all who helped with the scrapbook. She asked members to keep
their eyes peeled for outside publications with GBP members featured for the
scrapbook and bring the clips to her.
Public Relations:
Brian Coe announced the GBP formal to be April 5th at 8 p.m. in Draffenville on
the lake. Tickets are $10 for a couple and $5 for a single. He said directions
would be available. He will have a booth set up outside the Curris Center on
Thursday afternoon for anyone not able to buy their tickets at the meeting.
Everyone attending the Opry Mills Shopping trip April 27th in Nashville should
meet at Sparks parking lot at 8 a.m. He asked all members interested to sign up.
Recording Secretary:
Shelly Harris reminded members that they need to get their points in before the
semester runs out. Those within the county need 15 points, 10 if you live
outside Calloway county.
