Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society
General Meeting Minutes
February 22, 2001

PRESIDENT:  President Casey Johnson stated that he will be attending the
Mid-South Regional Gamma Beta Phi meeting will be held at Georgia Tech on
March 10th.  Some members had shown interest in attending the meeting also but
they become unable to attend.  Consequently, Casey will be attending the
meeting alone.

Casey announced that former GBP president, Wyatt Alverson, will remain in
charge of the GBP website.

All seniors graduating this May or August were reminded by Casey to sign-up
for a seal for their diplomas.  Casey informed members that this is their last
chance to get a seal.

After a low turnout at the Valentine making party and the Valentine visit to
Westview Nursing Home, Casey encouraged all members to participate in GBP
events.

VICE PRESIDENT:  Vice President Sharaf Alkibisi announced that there will be
an international potluck held on the now free March 10th.  This event will be
co-sponsored by GBP and the International Student Organization.  General
member Dawn Ray spoke on behalf of Sharaf in communicating the details of the
event to the members.  She stated that the potluck would require all those
attending to bring a dish to pass from their native area.  It was decided that
the potluck would be at 5PM in the Curris Center.  The location in the Curris
Center is to be announced.

Sharaf also reported on the results of the tutoring survey conducted at last
month's meetings.  Thirty percent of GBP members are currently tutoring and
fifty percent of members are interested in putting together study packet in
various subjects to be distributed to local schools.

Sharaf announced that the ESL program is still looking for people to attend
their classes with international students and help run English discussions.

RECORDING SECRETARY:  Recording Secretary Amanda Gerrish was unable to attend
the meeting due to illness.  She did, however, send along a reminder to all
members to keep her informed of any points they earn.

 CORRESPONDING SECRETARY:  Corresponding Secretary Cheri Riedel thanked all
members who participated in the valentine trip to Westview Nursing Home in any
way.  Cheri reminded those members who made valentines outside of the
valentine making party to turn in their points to Amanda.

Cheri announced that the first Bingo Day at Long Term Care is this Saturday,
February 24th.  Cheri is unable to attend the event, so Historian Alison Marr
will be leading the group to Long Term Care.  Please see Cheri if you need
directions to the hospital.

Cheri reminded members to keep bringing in Bingo prizes for this event and to
also keep bringing in can tabs for the Ronald McDonald House.

Cheri announced that she would be holding a service committee meeting on
Wednesday, February 28th at 5PM in the lounge on the 3rd floor of the Curris
Center.

TREASURER:  Treasurer Liz Fatheree thanked members who attended the Gatti's
night in January.  The next Gatti's night will not be until April 11th due to
Relay for Life fundraisers at Gatti's.

Liz asked members with suggestions for fundraisers to let her know.  T-shirts
and car window stickers are available from Liz.

HISTORIAN:  Historian Alison Marr announced that she is always collecting
articles for the next scrapbook.  Please turn in these items to Alison.

Alison encouraged members to attend GBP events so that they will be included
in the scrapbook.

PUBLIC RELATIONS CHAIR:  Public Relations Chair Kent Bohanon announced that
another trip to Opry Mills Mall is planned for Saturday, March 3rd.  All
members interested in going should meet in front of the Curris Center at
8:30AM.  Kent asked that anyone 21 or older who is willing to drive a MSU
vehicle to please see him about obtaining a MSU driver's permit.

Kent stated that he will be having a social committee meeting on Tuesday,
February 27th at 5PM in the 2nd floor of the Curris Center.
