Blackboard Learning System Training
Blackboard training is mandatory for instructors who wish to offer courses on the Blackboard Learning System. Two types of training are being offered to satisfy this mandatory requirement: Blackboard Basics (a face-to-face training workshop) and Blackboard Certification (an online version).
What training is offered?
Blackboard Basics will be an overview of the basic functions of the Blackboard System. It will cover policies, procedures, known issues and common tasks instructors normally encounter in their first few semesters using the Blackboard System.
We will offer this workshop as a face-to-face class in our classroom facility in Applied Science N 304. At the conclusion of the workshop, participants must complete and pass a short certification quiz.
Blackboard Certification is designed for users who have attended training in the past and have a knowledge of the blackboard system. It will cover features and MSU policies that are necessary for successful use of the Blackboard System.
We will offer this workshop primarily as a self-paced, online tutorial. At the conclusion of the tutorial, participants must complete and pass a short certification quiz.
Which training should I complete?
Users who are new to Blackboard or have been using Blackboard for a short time but have never attended a training workshop should attend Blackboard Basics.
Users who have been using Blackboard for several semesters may choose to complete the Blackboard Certification training online.
What about the quiz?
The quiz at the end of both training workshops will ask users questions from the same knowledge base.
We expect both new users and those completing the online certification to
be able to answer basic system functionality questions that are normally
covered in Blackboard Basics. We will also be asking questions pertaining
to policies and procedures.
Users must successfully pass the quiz to have courses created on blackboard beginning in August 2007.
How do I sign-up for training?
To register for Blackboard Basics workshop,
go to Training & Seminars for Faculty and Staff. Click on the title of a workshop to register. Workshops will be posted at the beginning and
end of each semester. Call 809-4330 for individualized training.
