The twelve county region served by the Purchase AHEC has 6 acute care and 3 critical access hospitals with sizes ranging from 25 to 389 beds.The following links to area hospital websites will provide you with an overview of the services they provide:

Orientation requrements vary from hospital to hospital. The AHEC clinical coordinator will contact you with specific orientation requirements for the hospital your physician has admitting privileges to. Keep in mind that most Paducah area physicians have privileges at both Lourdes and Western Baptist, which will mean two orientations.

Below are the current requirements for students assigned to the Purchase AHEC service area. You will receive directions along with the reminder a month prior to the rotation beginning. While some hospitals don't specify the immunization records, all students are encouraged to have current copies of their records & certifications in the event they are asked to produce them. ALL DRUG SCREENINGS AND BACKGROUND CHECKS MUST BE COMPLETED AND RESULTS ON FILE AT HOSPITAL PRIOR TO ROTATION BEGINNING. If this is not done, it may compromise your ability to accompany your physician on rounds at the hospital.
